Seward Commons: Sustainable, Transit-Oriented Development (2011)

The process led by Redesign to bring focus to the redevelopment of the 3.85 acres Bystrom Bros. site based on the principles of the Franklin Avenue Vision; aspires to a sustainable, transit-oriented, mixed-income, residential community developed in phases that includes walking and biking connections through the site in order to knit the neighborhood together with the nearby transit station.

FRANKLIN AVENUE VISION (2009)

Early in 2008, Redesign, Seward Neighborhood Group (SNG), and Seward Civic and Commerce Association (SCCA) launched a community-driven process to re-envision the future of Franklin Avenue from the Franklin LRT station to the Mississippi River.

FRANKLIN-CEDAR/RIVERSIDE TOD MASTER PLAN (2002)

A Project Steering Committee comprised of representatives of neighborhood organizations, community business groups, and area institutions guided the TOD Master Plan for the Franklin and CedarRiverside stations.

FRANKLIN AVENUE LRT TASK FORCE REPORT (2000)

The plan developed by Phillips and Seward community members for the then-proposed Franklin Light Rail Transit station; staffed by Redesign, with technical support from the University of Minnesota; study identified critical issues and parameters to guide future planning for the transit station area; explored options to reconfigure infrastructure to take advantage of the transit line and support the community’s vision for redevelopment.
