Join us for a walking tour of Downtown Longfellow with Bobbie Erichsen. Bobbie has been compiling stories of this area for an archival project and will share some of the history of the area. We will also discuss recent and upcoming changes as well. As part of the walk, we’d love to hear more of your stories of the past and ideas for the future!

This drop-in event will also include rollerskating with free skate rentals, artmaking workshops, Art Cars, and a Drive-In / Bike-In in Shadow Show! Together, let’s create a vision for a more connected, sustainable, and equitable Lake Street.

🔥Glassblowing Demo & Stained Glass Workshop

Come to Foci Minnesota Center for Glass Arts to experience glass art making! Take a look at James Akers solo gallery exhibition of neon artworks, watch a glass blowing demo from 4-6pm in the hotshop, and make a stained glass suncatcher with local artist Michael Lizama from 5-7pm in the classroom. Free!

🪩Dance Sampler

Threads‘ Youth Dance Project is a welcoming, inclusive program that builds confidence, strength, and creativity through ballet, modern, nutrition, and wellness. Instructors will be on hand from 4-6PM to lead short sample lessons, answer your questions, and share details about Threads’ Summer Dance Camps!

🎭Open House / Open Rehearsal

Red Eye Theater cultivates collective cultures through the creation and sharing of live performance. Come visit the space between 4-6PM to experience movement, projection, and music by Red Eye artists including snem DeSellier and Akiko. Enter a drawing to win free tickets to their upcoming New Works 4 Weeks performance festival, May 22-June 14!

🎤Youth Voices: Student Reading & Open Mic

826 MSP amplifies the voices and stories of youth. Enjoy original student writing from a recent chapbook – and join the open mic yourself! Don’t miss this opportunity for youth and community members to share poetry, short stories, spoken word pieces, and more.

🚲Bicycle/Helmet safety check

Supporting the vision of Seward Commons as a walkable, bikeable community, our friends at the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota will be available to perform helmet and bicycle safety checks!

🌳Normanna Triangle Update

The Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board will be on hand to share the plans for Normanna Triangle Park just across the street!
